The project results and
information on it have been presented: American Physical Society's (APS) March Meeting10-14 March 2008 Assoc. Prof. Dalia Satkovskiene participated in American Physical Society's (APS) March Meeting held in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was nominated by the APS Forum on International Physics (FIP) for the Marshak Lectureship and was invited to give a talk entitled "Women in Physics in the Baltic States Region: Problems and Solutions" and based on BASNET results. Coordinator of the BASNET project prof. Dalia Šatkovskienė participated in the
Euro Science Open Forum as an invited speaker and made the presentation
at the session: “Fishing from a bigger pool: excellent science needs women”.
The session was dedicated to discuss the vital for
the future of European research questions concerned with attracting and

W większości krajów europejskich wśród osób kończących wyższe studia, w grupie wiekowej do lat 30, obserwuje się ostatnio przewagę kobiet nad mężczyznami. Mimo to reprezentacja kobiet pracujących w zespołach naukowych i w ich kierownictwie, a także w ciałach decydujących o polityce naukowej na dowolnym szczeblu jest stosunkowo niewielka, co może świadczyć o niedocenianiu rzeczywistych wartości kobiet prowadzących badania naukowe, jak też o funkcjonowaniu anachronicznego stereotypu kobiety widzianej jako osoby nie posiadającej odpowiednich predyspozycji.
